KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The lineup card can be a manager’s saving grace or a direct link to the ire of fans. Kansas City Royals manager Ned Yost knows this probably better than anybody by now, and in a little bit of a twist he gave some Royals fans their wish Monday.
After getting little from Alcides Escobar in the leadoff spot for weeks, Yost reshuffled the deck again as he moved Whit Merrifield to the top, Jorge Bonifacio to the two-hole and Mike Moustakas down to the sixth slot. By doing so Yost essentially stacked his six hottest hitters together in order against the Houston Astros.
