SURPRISE, Ariz. -- Royals right-hander Ian Kennedy, who is scheduled to start the second game of the regular season against the Mets, was removed from Wednesday's Cactus League finale because of tightness in his left hamstring.
Kennedy had gone to the mound to start the bottom of the fourth inning, but Royals trainers came out after Kennedy threw just two warmup pitches.
Royals officials announced the removal was precautionary.
Kennedy logged three innings, allowing three hits and two runs while striking out four.
