In his final spring training start, Ian Kennedy exited early with tightness in his left hamstring, the Royals announced Wednesday.
Kennedy allowed two earned runs in three innings against the Texas Rangers. He returned to the mound to warm up before the bottom of the fourth. He lasted just a few moments before Royals trainer Nick Kenney came out to check on him.
Kennedy is slated to make his regular-season debut on Tuesday at Kauffman Stadium. He will square off against the Mets’ Noah Syndergaard in the second game of a two-game series.
Last season, Kennedy spent time on the 15-day disabled list in early April after straining his left hamstring in his season opener while pitching for the San Diego Padres.
