KANSAS CITY -- The Royals and first baseman Eric Hosmer have agreed on a one-year deal, thus avoiding arbitration, the club announced.
A source told MLB.com the deal is worth $12.25 million. Hosmer made $8.25 million in 2016.
The Royals still have pending arbitration cases with left-hander Danny Duffy and closer Kelvin Herrera. Duffy and the Royals continue to explore a long-term deal, as MLB.com has previously reported. Duffy made $4.225 million in 2016.
Herrera made $2.55 million in 2016.
Hosmer was named an American League All-Star for the first time in 2016, when he set career highs with 25 home runs and 104 RBIs.
