Royals hold off Reds late and hang on for 5-4 win

Following a heart-breaking loss in extra innings Friday night, the Royals bounced back and earned a split with a 5-4 win over Cincinnati.

Kansas City took advantage of poor defense in the top of the first inning. After Whit Merrifield led off the game with a double to right-center field, Salvador Perez drove him home on a grounder that was thrown wildly to the plate. However, despite loading the bases with one out, the Royals couldn’t add on.

This has gotta be the biggest run we've ever scored on a wild throw home after Salvy put the ball in play.
