Alex Rios started it with a leadoff single off reliever Will Harris before Alcides Escobar, Ben Zobrist and Lorenzo Cain added consecutive singles to bring home a run and load the bases with nobody out.
Left-hander Tony Sipp came in to face the left-handed-hitting Eric Hosmer, who laced a single into right to bring Kansas City within two runs. It brought up Kendrys Morales, who hit a grounder that deflected off Sipp's glove and then off Correa's glove for a two-run error that was a potential double-play grounder.
