The Royals have selected the contract of right-handed reliever Andrew Hoffmann from Triple-A Omaha and optioned pitcher Evan Sisk to the minors. Hoffman had a 2.84 ERA with 37 strikeouts and 9 walks in 25 1⁄3 innings for Omaha.
Hoffmann was originally a 12th-round pick out of the University of Illinois in 2021, two years after Michael Massey played there. He began his pro career with the Braves but was traded to the Royals in 2022 with Drew Waters and CJ Alexander for a competitive balance draft pick. He struggled as a starter, but became a full-time reliever this year with much-improved results.
