Royals’ Alex Gordon has broken bone in hand, to miss three to four weeks

The Royals placed outfielder Alex Gordon on the disabled list Monday because of a broken scaphoid bone in his right hand.

Gordon, who was injured in a collision with Mike Moustakas in Sunday’s 3-2 loss to the White Sox in Chicago and initally diagnosed as having a sprained wrist, is expected to miss three to four weeks.

The Royals recalled infielder Cheslor Cuthbert from Class AAA Omaha. Cuthbert was optioned on Saturday after Moustakas returned from the disabled list.

Moustakas was held out of Monday’s lineup against the Twins. He’s considered “day-to-day” because of a contusion on the outside of his knee.
