Royals’ Alex Gordon has broken bone in hand, to miss 3-4 weeks

MINNEAPOLIS

Royals outfielder Alex Gordon is headed to the disabled list Monday because of a broken scaphoid bone in his right hand.

Gordon, who was injured in a collision with Mike Moustakas in Sunday’s 3-2 loss to the White Sox in Chicago and initally diagnosed as having a sprained wrist, is expected to miss three to four weeks.

The Royals are recalling infielder Cheslor Cuthbert from Triple-A Omaha. Cuthbert was optioned on Saturday after Moustakas returned from the disabled list.

Moustakas was held out of Monday’s lineup against the Twins. He’s considered “day-to-day” because of a contusion on the outside of his knee.
