Rios, Herrera sidelined with chicken pox

Two Royals players have come down with a case of the chicken pox. Outfielder Alex Rios and reliever Kelvin Herrera have both been infected with the disease that could sideline them for up to two weeks.

Manager Ned Yost confirmed the report before Tuesday night's game against the Tigers, but he said the rest of the clubhouse should be fine as Rios and Herrera were sent home.

Alex Gordon -- who was reinstated from the 15-day DL Tuesday -- and newly acquired outfielder Jonny Gomes, as well as catcher Salvador Perez and Edinson Volquez are among the Royals who said they already had the disease as children, which should protect them from further infection.
