The Royals trimmed their Spring Training roster Wednesday, optioning Scott Alexander and Brian Flynn to Triple-A Omaha and reassigning Parker Morin, Orlando Calixte and Dusty Coleman to Minor League camp. Veteran Russ Ohlendorf was also released from his Minor League contract.
Ohlendorf, 33, has gone 25-34 with a 4.84 ERA in 145 appearances in the Major Leagues. Flynn, 25, has posted an 8.64 ERA in six career big league outings. Alexander made his Majors debut last year and posted a 4.50 ERA in four appearances (six innings) with the Royals.
Kansas City has 37 players left in big league camp, and nine of those are non-roster invitees.
