An MRI taken Sunday on Salvador Perez's left leg showed no ligament damage, and he will not go on disabled list. But the Royals did recall Tony Cruz from Triple-A Omaha on Sunday to add catching depth.
Right-hander Peter Moylan was optioned to Omaha to make room for Cruz.
Cruz was hitting .278 with six doubles, three homers and 20 RBIs in 31 games for the Storm Chasers this season.
Perez sustained a quad contusion on Saturday when he collided with third baseman Cheslor Cuthbert in the ninth inning of the Royals' 8-7 comeback win over the White Sox as they pursued a foul pop.
