Moustakas' 37th homer sets new Royals record

TORONTO -- Mike Moustakas launched his 37th home run of 2017 on Wednesday night, making him the new all-time record holder for home runs by a Kansas City Royals player in a single season.

Moustakas surpassed Steve Balboni, who hit 36 for the Royals in 1985. After racing out to 25 home runs by the All-Star break, Moustakas finally reached 36 on Sept. 1 against the Twins and has been chasing the record for the past 15 games.
