Mondesi Keeps Running

At first glance, it appeared to be a harmless ground out.

On August 25, the Royals were ahead of the division-leading Cleveland Indians 5–1 entering the bottom of the seventh inning. After fouling off a first-pitch sinker, infielder Adalberto Mondesi rolled over on an 0–1, 82 MPH change-up from right-handed pitcher Dan Otero, bouncing it right to second baseman Jason Kipnis.

Realistically, not every player sprints down the first base line on slow grounders to an infielder - the runner will simply assume he is about to be thrown out, and he doesn’t run as hard as he can to the bag.
