The Royals have called up left-handed pitcher Kris Bubic from the Alternate Site and have optioned down outfielder Ryan McBroom. Bubic had a 4.32 ERA with 49 strikeouts in 50 innings in ten starts with the Royals. He was a candidate to make the rotation this year, but had a poor spring training performance and was set to begin the year in Omaha’s rotation.
The Royals may need another arm after starter Brady Singer exited Friday night’s game against Minnesota in the second inning after being hit in the heel with a line drive.
The bullpen had to provide six innings of work, with Ervin Santana sopping up four of those innings, and Tyler Zuber and Wade Davis each getting an inning of work.
