KANSAS CITY -- Royals outfielder Jarrod Dyson, who had been projected as the Opening Day right fielder, took his second straight day of batting practice on the field Wednesday and reported no setbacks.
Dyson, recovering from a strained oblique, could go on a rehab assignment to Triple-A Omaha as soon as this weekend, when the Royals wrap up their homestand against Minnesota.
"It's about that time," Dyson said. "Vacation is over for me."
Dyson suffered the injury during the Royals' first Spring Training game on March 2. He took batting practice on the field Tuesday.
