Things are not going well for the Kansas City Royals at the moment. Aside from the five-ish minutes of time in the spotlight when they took Bobby Witt Jr. in the first round of the 2019 Major League Baseball draft on Monday evening, this week of Royals baseball has been mostly miserable.
Kansas City has lost its last five games, eight of its last 10 overall, and is currently tied with the Orioles for the worst record in baseball at 19-42. Last year’s squad, losers of 104 games, was 21-40 through 61 games. The only team in Royals history to get off to a worse start through 61 games was the 2006 team who limped into game 62 with a record of 16-45.
