Former Royals owner David Glass dies at the age of 85

David Glass, who owned the Kansas City Royals from 2000 until last November, has died at the age of 85.

The team has released a statement.

Glass became interim CEO of the Royals in 1993 following the death of team founder Ewing Kauffman. He led a board of directors that was tasked with finding a long-term owner of the club, a search that ended with him purchasing the team for $96 million in 2000.
