Cain hits first spring homer in split-squad action

Giants starter Clayton Blackburn, with an outside shot at the No. 5 spot in the rotation, gave up three hits and walked a hitter but made it through two scoreless innings.

With two outs in the first, Hammel gave up two hits and hit a batter but got out of the trouble with a routine flyout. He threw 31 pitches, 17 for strikes.

Left-hander Mike Minor, hoping to lock up a bullpen spot for Kansas City, threw two more scoreless innings, retiring all six hitters he faced. He has thrown four scoreless innings this spring.
