BALTIMORE -- The Orioles-Royals game turned heated on Tuesday night when Baltimore infielder Manny Machado charged the mound and landed a punch to the face of Kansas City starter Yordano Ventura. Machado stormed out of the batter's box after being hit by a pitch in the back in the fifth inning. He made a beeline for Ventura as both benches cleared and the bullpens emptied.
Both players were ejected following the fight, which came with Baltimore leading 5-1. It appeared to have roots in Machado's previous at-bat, in the second inning. Ventura threw inside a few times and Machado flied out, with television cameras catching both players jawing at each other and first base umpire CB Bucknor shooing Machado back to the dugout.
