As the Kansas City Chiefs gathered for another day of training camp in St. Joseph, Missouri, head coach Andy Reid began his daily press remarks by publicly acknowledging Mathieu's recent retirement. The former All-Pro safety was a franchise leader for a Chiefs defense that delivered the team's first Super Bowl victory in 50 years.
“Just a shout out to Tyrann for a great career,” Reid said. “What a great career he had. The game will miss him, miss his energy—definitely an energy giver, a great leader.
