Sunday’s Chiefs-Chargers season finale will feel more like an exhibition game

On Sunday, the (10-6) Kansas City Chiefs — already locked into the AFC’s third postseason seed and eighth consecutive AFC West title — travel to the West Coast to wrap up the regular season with a matchup against their longtime division rivals: the (5-11) Los Angeles Chargers.

For the defending Super Bowl champions, this game will likely feel like a preseason matchup. On Wednesday, head coach Andy Reid said that reigning NFL MVP quarterback Patrick Mahomes will give way to his backup Blaine Gabbert.

Mahomes probably won’t be the only Kansas City veteran who will sit out (or be limited) in this game.
