This is the time of year when we normally find out not only which teams the Kansas City Chiefs will play in the upcoming season — something we can determine on the day the previous season ends — but also when (and sometimes where) they will play each game.
A year ago — while the NFL was working its way through the early stages of the coronavirus pandemic — the schedule release was moved back to May 7. This allowed the league time to reprogram the supercomputer it uses to create multiple schedules — from which they choose the one that they think gives them the best television matchups — so that they would have the flexibility to move games around if the pandemic forced some games to be rescheduled.
