Longtime Chiefs veteran could be nearing the end of his Kansas City run

When Drue Tranquill first landed in Kansas City, he was a free-agent flyer for the Chiefs. Signed before the 2023 season, Tranquill accepted a single-season deal worth up to $3 million for the chance to stay in a familiar division and chase Lombardi Trophies with the league's reigning superpower.

From the start, it was clear that Tranquill was a pivotal find for Chiefs general manager Brett Veach. After years of watching him play for the Los Angeles Chargers, it's possible the Chiefs already had a good idea of what he would bring to the defense and simply smiled at the cheap market rate all the while.
