Hall of Famer Will Shields Was Kansas City Chiefs’ Iron Man

For the first game of Will Shields‘ career, he did not start the game. The third-round draft pick from the University of Nebraska would make the first start of his career in the following week’s match against the Houston Oilers (now Tennessee Titans). The 6-foot-3, 315-pound body of Will Shields would not move from the starting offensive line until he decided to hang up his cleats.

For 223 consecutive games, the one constant on the Kansas City Chiefs was that Will Shields would be on the line as the right offensive guard.
