Gunther Cunningham leaves coaching career for Pro Football Focus

For the first time since 1969, Gunther Cunningham will not be a football coach for his career. Instead, the longtime college and NFL coach, including a two-year stint as the Kansas City Chiefs head coach, will become the newest staff member at Pro Football Focus, serving as Director of Football Oversight.

A press release from PFF, the premiere football analytics organization around, celebrated the arrival from Cunningham and included praise from Cris Collinsworth.

“The rare aspect of Gunther’s career is how this old school coach has embraced today’s data analytics. It is the blending of that traditional football acumen with modern technical expertise that makes Gunther such a perfect fit for PFF.
