Marcus Cooper and Jamell Fleming have worked mostly at safety this off-season hoping to improve their play off coverage instead of in press man. The Chiefs also brought in journeyman safety Stevie Brown who played both linebacker and safety in college at Michigan. This team is trying to find a secondary that will limit teams in this pass heavy NFL especially without giving up the big play downfield.
The loss of players like Sean Smith, Tyvon Branch, and Husain Abdullah make that difficult to accomplish but the team appears to believe that they can develop young players to fill those shoes.
