Chiefs sign edge rusher Tourek Williams

  • The Chiefs added to their edge defender group Monday by signing former Charger, Tourek Williams.
  • Williams, playing in 142 snaps in 2016, registered just three total pressures and three defensive stops, compiling a 49.8 PFF pass rushing grade and a 48.6 run defense grade in the process.
  • Despite his perennial lack of production defensively, Williams has made plays on special teams, which the Chiefs value. He has a combined 15 special teams tackles (with just three missed) his last two seasons (he missed 2015 with a broken foot).
  • While we thought edge defender was a low-key need for the Chiefs going into the draft process, the position wasn’t addressed, leaving an opening for Williams should he be able to beat out incumbents Frank Zombo (44.
