Spencer Ware's return to the Kansas City Chiefs was cut short Wednesday as the team put the running back on injured reserve with a shoulder injury.
In a corresponding move, the Chiefs activated Xavier Williams, who had been on IR with an ankle injury.
Ware, who played for Kansas City from 2015-2018, rejoined the team in for Week 14 after the Chiefs lost Darrel Williams to a hamstring injury. In three games, the 28-year-old ran for 51 yards on 17 carries and also caught five passes for 22 yards.
