Chiefs injuries: Receiver Jason Avant misses practice because of hip strain

Add receiver Jason Avant to the Chiefs’ list of the walking wounded.

Avant will not practice Monday because of a hip sprain, Chiefs coach Andy Reid said. Reid said right tackle Jeff Allen (MCL sprain), quarterback Tyler Bray (ACL tear), left tackle Eric Fisher (high ankle sprain), tight end Demetrius Harris (foot surgery), receiver Junior Hemingway (hip strain), inside linebacker Justin March (meniscus tear), nose tackle Dontari Poe (back) and offensive tackle Tavon Rooks (shortness of breath) will not practice.

Reid said receiver De’Anthony Thomas (calf strain) participated some in walkthrough, but won’t do much in practice Monday, if anything.
