The opening statement from Chiefs coach Andy Reid on Monday morning included a typical rundown of talking points — injury updates, a brief recap of a football game and a synopsis of the upcoming week.
Then, one more topic: The Kansas City Royals.
A day after the Royals defeated the New York Mets for their first World Series championship since 1985, Reid concluded his opening statement with the media Monday with a congratulatory message.
“Lastly, a pretty important thing: Congratulations goes out to the Royals, man. Phenomenal. I mean, you're talking about the world champions,” Reid said.
