The Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers open their preseason schedules at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. (Arrowhead Time). The game will be carried locally on KSHB/41.
The Chiefs enter 2021 after posting a franchise-best regular-season record of 14-2 and advancing to their second straight Super Bowl appearance, in which they were defeated by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 31-9.
In the offseason, they sought to rebuild their aging offensive line, which had been ravaged by injuries in 2020 — and had been an obvious weakness in the championship loss.
