Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes wasn’t made available to the media after Sunday’s 26-14 win over the Arizona Cardinals due to a family emergency—Mahomes’ longtime girlfriend, Brittany Matthews, lost her stepfather during the game.
Chiefs head coach Andy Reid passed along his condolences on behalf of the organization on Monday.
“Just a quick word on Patrick, on his girlfriend Brittany’s stepfather, Paul,” Reid said. “We’re sorry to hear about what took place [Sunday]. Our prayers and blessings are with the family. I’ve talked to Patrick, and they’re doing well for the circumstance that took place.
