1990s Chiefs Ring of Honor player says he received a Super Bowl ring

On Thursday, the one-and-only Nigerian Nightmare — former Kansas City Chiefs running back Christian Okoye — tweeted that he had received an unexpected gift from the organization: his very own Super Bowl ring.

This is very likely a “replica” Super Bowl ring. Language in the NFL Collective Bargaining Agreement allows the production of these replica rings for practice-squad players and other members of the organization — although the franchise has to foot the bill for them. Just the same, this is a grand gesture the Chiefs have made for a Ring of Honor player like Okoye, who played for the team from 1987 through 1992.
