The Kansas City Chiefs already have a strong safety tandem in Tyrann Mathieu and Juan Thornhill. Thornhill is on the PUP list as he continues to recover from a torn ACL, but should be cleared soon. While Earl Thomas is likely a slight upgrade from Thornhill, he’s also a lot older and brings a ton of drama. Thomas got released by the Ravens primarily due to a recent physical altercation with teammate Chuck Clark. Reports are also surfacing that Thomas has been a headache for the Ravens for awhile.
Earl Thomas 2019 stats included 49 tackles, 2 interceptions and 4 pass breakups. Thomas is a 3-time first team all-pro but hasn’t earned that recognition since 2014. If the Chiefs were to sign Thomas, he would pair with Tyrann Mathieu as one of the strongest safety duos in the NFL. With the Chiefs being a prime super bowl contender already, Earl Thomas is not worth the baggage according to Harrison Graham.
