Shortly before Notre Dame began spring practice in March 2015, Keith Gilmore was hired as defensive line coach.
Trying to learn his new players and coordinator Brian VanGorder’s system, Gilmore leaned on rising senior Sheldon Day.
“I was coming into a new scheme and he had been in it a year and understood a lot of the nuances and helped me in a lot of instances,” Gilmore said.
And Gilmore helped Day, who was a second-team All-America (45 tackles and four sacks), leading to the Jaguars drafting him in the fourth round.
