Super test: A look at what Jaguars have done against past defending champs

Through a scheduling quirk and the constantly rebuilding nature of the AFC South, the Jaguars haven’t faced a defending Super Bowl champion in eight years.

That streak ends Sunday when the Jaguars (1-1) play the New England Patriots, the franchise that ended their playoff seasons in 2005 and 2007.

The matchup against the Patriots will be the 10th in Jaguars history against a team defending its championship.

Here is a recap of the first nine games:

OCT. 25, 1998: AT DENVER

Score: Broncos 37-24.

Highlights: Denver built leads of 17-3 and 27-10, but the Jaguars closed it to 34-24 with 10:35 remaining.
