Source: Jaguars adding free safety Tashaun Gipson

The Jaguars hope they solved their long-standing issue at free safety tonight by agreeing to terms with Cleveland Browns free agent Tashaun Gipson, a league source said.

Gipson, one of the top free safeties available along with Eric Weddle and Reggie Nelson, turns 26 years old on Aug. 7.

Gipson’s arrival means the Jaguars can move James Sample to his natural strong safety spot and compete with Johnathan Cyprien as well as allow coach Gus Bradley and Co., to play Gipson in a single-high spot and keep Cyprien/Sample in a box-safety role.

Gipson (5-foot-11 and 206 pounds), started 42 of 50 games for the Browns.
