TAMPA, Fla. — A former Jacksonville Jaguars coach is getting a promotion.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers plan to promote offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter to head coach, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Koetter joined the Tampa Bay coaching staff this past year and he will fill the role left by former head coach Lovie Smith.
Koetter was influential in rookie quarterback Jameis Winston's impressive first year in the NFL.
Before Tampa Bay, Koetter served as an offensive coordinator for the Atlanta Falcons (2012-2014) and the Jaguars (2007-2011).
