Recently-acquired Jaguars lineman retires

Offensive tackle Tanner Hawkinson, acquired by the Jaguars via waivers April 4, announced his retirement Friday.

The Jaguars said Hawkinson’s decision wasn’t injury-related. He was placed on the team’s reserve-retired list and won’t count toward the 90-player roster limit.

Hawkinson, 25, was a fifth-round pick by Cincinnati in 2013 and he played in four games over two years for the Bengals. He was on San Francisco’s practice squad last year before joining Philadelphia and playing in two games.

The Eagles waived him April 1 and he was awarded to the Jaguars.
