Pick-six sends Jaguars to season-opening loss against Panthers

The Jaguars were 9-39 over the last three years prior to Sunday’s opener.

Make it 9-40.

In a game similar to many in recent years, the Jaguars failed to make the plays when they needed to in losing to Carolina 20-9 at EverBank Field.

Panthers cornerback Josh Norman intercepted Jaguars quarterback Blake Bortles and returned it 28 yards for a touchdown in the third quarter.

The Panthers sealed the win with a 14-play drive to burn 8:07 off the clock that ended with a 47-yard field goal by Graham Gano. Carolina converted three third-down situations on the drive.
