SAN JOSE, CALIF. | Carolina Panthers cornerback Josh Norman’s drive to what to a gigantic contract was kick-started way back in Week 1 against the Jaguars.
The Panthers led 10-9 in the third quarter and the Jaguars faced a first-and-10 from their 26-yard line. T.J. Yeldon motioned out of the backfield and ran a hitch route to the right flat. But Norman jumped the play and returned Bortles’ interception 30 yards for a back-breaking touchdown.
Norman was off and running — and off and talking — the rest of the year, finishing with four interceptions and a team-high 18 pass break-ups.
