Fans going to the Jaguars season opener Sunday probably already know the drill: Plan to show up at least two hours early.
With at least 65,000 fans expected for the sold-out game against the Green Bay Packers, Jacksonville officials are urging drivers to beat traffic by getting to EverBank Field no later than 11 a.m. when the gates open.
Those aiming to arrive just in time for the 1 p.m. kickoff could wind up missing out and watching brake lights instead, as police working traffic duty will shift their focus at that time to accommodate pedestrians.
“If you’re not in your parking spot by 11, your commute just got longer,” said Leonard Propper, assistant chief of special events for the Sheriff’s Office.
