ESPN draft analyst Mel Kiper Jr. conducted a conference call with reporters on Thursday.
Kiper released his latest mock draft this week and has the Jaguars taking Florida State defensive back Jalen Ramsey with the fifth-overall pick.
Ramsey is a versatile player who could play cornerback, but would likely be a free safety for the Jaguars. I asked Kiper how Ramsey’s skill set would translate to playing free safety in Jaguars coach Gus Bradley’s scheme.
Kiper didn’t shy away from his high opinion on Ramsey, comparing him to Hall of Famer Rod Woodson. Woodson, inducted in 2009, mastered corner and safety at the NFL level intercepting 71 passes with 13 ½ sacks in his career.
