Maurice Jones-Drew returns to Jacksonville to call it a career

Running back Maurice Jones-Drew signed a one-day contract with the Jaguars and officially ended his nine-year NFL career.

Jones-Drew traveled from California to Jacksonville Monday night with his family and held a press conference at EverBank Field.

“Nine years flew by,” he said. “The next chapter will hopefully be broadcasting and inspiring others. This game has done so much for me and my family. I appreciate the game and I can’t wait to see my kids play.”

Jones-Drew started his remarks by thanking former Jaguars front office chief James Harris for drafting him.

The Jaguars’ second-round pick in 2006, Jones-Drew played 114 games for the club in eight years.
