Drafting linebacker Jaylon Smith in the first round was going to be a stretch because of his recent injury anyway.
Well, things just got a lot tougher.
As reported by Alex Marvez, the doctors at the combine got a chance to look at Smith’s knee more closely and the nerve damage may present a much bigger hurdle than the torn ligaments that were already holding back Smith’s draft stock. Marvez notes a conversation with two doctors with vastly differing opinions on Smith, with one thinking that there is only a 10 percent chance of a full recovery.
