BOCA RATON – On hand as an observer during the Jaguars’ defensive coordinator search in January and a regular presence in the office during free-agent evaluations last month, Monte Kiffin has officially joined the team as a defensive assistant.
The Jaguars also hired John Benton as offensive line coach and John Donovan as offensive quality control coach.
Kiffin, who gave Jaguars coach Gus Bradley his NFL start in 2006 with Tampa Bay, was out of coaching last year. The 76-year old Kiffin has served as an defensive coordinator with Minnesota, New Orleans, Tampa Bay and Dallas.
The Jaguars had an open spot on their defensive staff after Todd Wash was promoted to coordinator and a new defensive line coach wasn’t hired.
