Ken Stabler, who is a senior candidate for this year’s Hall of Fame class, is the latest former player to be diagnosed with chronic traumatic encephalopathy or CTE.
The New York Times reported Wednesday that Stabler was diagnosed with Stage 3 on a scale of 1 to 4 by researchers at Boston University.
Stabler, who died of colon cancer at age 69 on July 8, had requested that his brain be examined for the illness after Junior Seau committed suicide in 2012.
His longtime companion, Kim Bush, said he told her, “Yeah, I want to do that.
