Adam Schefter reports that the Jaguars are signing LB Telvin Smith to a four-year, $50 million extension.

Smith has emerged as one of the best linebackers in the league. His extension is well deserved given he was set to be one of the most sought-after free agents if he hit the open market.

Smith, 26, is a former fifth-round pick by the Jaguars in the 2014 NFL Draft. He is in the final year of a four-year, $2,431,052 rookie contract that included a $211,052 signing bonus and is set to make a base salary of $690,000 this season.
