Jaguars select Florida's Dante Fowler with third pick in 2015 NFL Draft

The Jaguars tonight chose pass rush over receiver and arguably the draft’s top-rated player.

Staying at No. 3, the Jaguars drafted Florida defensive end/outside linebacker Dante Fowler, passing on Alabama receiver Amari Cooper and USC defensive lineman Leonard Williams.

It is the first time in Dave Caldwell’s three drafts as general manager that he selected a defensive player in the first round. And he may not be done. The Jaguars are next up at No. 36 in Friday’s second round but could explore moving back into the lower third of the first round tonight.

The case for drafting the 20-year old Fowler: A versatile player who can center-piece a defense.
